چکیده

This paper evaluates the performance of two prominent on-demand routing protocols, which are Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector Routing (AODV) for wireless sensor networks. Results obtained from simulations demonstrates that even though DSR and AODV share a similar on-demand behavior, the differences in the protocol mechanics can lead to significant performance differentials. The performance differentials are analyzed using varying network load and network size. Tiny Operating System (TinyOS) is used as a platform for simulating AODV & DSR under various conditions. TinyOS is free software and is designed specially for wireless sensor networks. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are characterized by multi-hop wireless connectivity, frequently changing network topology and the need for efficient dynamic routing protocols. Key-Words: Wireless Sensor Networks, Ad Hoc Routing Protocols, AODV, DSR, Tiny OS, multi-hop wireless links

Comparative Performance Analysis of AODV,DSR, TORA and OLSR Routing Protocols in MANET Using OPNET

Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are receiving a significant interest and are becoming very popular in the world of wireless networks and telecommunication. MANETs consist of mobile nodes which can communicate with each other without any infrastructure or centralized administration. In MANETs, the movement of nodes is unpredictable and complex; thus making the routing of the packets challenging....

Simulation Study of Aodv and Dsr Routing Protocol in Wireless Ad - Hoc Networks

Ad-hoc wireless networks are defined as the category of wireless networks that utilize multi hope radio relaying and are capable of operating without the support of any fixed infrastructure. Wireless mesh networks and wireless sensor networks are specific examples of wireless ad-hoc networks. This paper discusses in detail the functioning of AODV and DSR routing protocol In different propagatio...

On the MAC/Network/Energy Performance Evaluation of Wireless Sensor Networks: Contrasting MPH, AODV, DSR and ZTR Routing Protocols

Wireless Sensor Networks deliver valuable information for long periods, then it is desirable to have optimum performance, reduced delays, low overhead, and reliable delivery of information. In this work, proposed metrics that influence energy consumption are used for a performance comparison among our proposed routing protocol, called Multi-Parent Hierarchical (MPH), the well-known protocols fo...

Performance Comparison of AODV/DSR On-demand Routing Protocols for Ad Hoc Networks in Constrained Environment

On-demand routing protocols for Mobile Ad-hoc networks registers unexpected performance behavior when multiple data streams are sent to common destination. This scenario is common when MANET is connected to Internet through common gateways or used in similar cases. The AODV outperform DSR in the normal situation but in the constrained situation DSR out-performs AODV, the degradation is as sever...

Routing Efficiency Evaluation in Wireless Sensor Networks

Today wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have gained grate popularity and are widely used in variety of areas due to their unique features. WSNs are deployed in an ad-hoc manner and consist of a large number of tiny sensor nodes. The sensor nodes communicate with each other through the routes established by the routing algorithms. Routing is considered as a challenging task in WSNs because it can ...
